Sometimes I lose my mind trying to keep up with the craziness of life in 2011. Although I have found it's best to give in to the insanity, otherwise you end up with a migraine and a list of irrational solutions for problems that may or may not exist.
The latest example, like most, comes to us this holiday season from the House majority members of Congress. Y'all, I can't even begin to make this next statement make sense so I'm just gonna lay it out there . . . the Republicans are blocking a tax reduction. See, you head is spinning now isn't it?
To be more exact, the House Republican leadership is blocking a tax reduction (more precisely an expansion and further reduction of an existing - but expiring - tax reduction) that was negotiated on a bipartisan basis in the Senate and initially agreed to by House leadership (before they decided to be against it - you just can't make this stuff up.) Even more ridiculous is that the original tax reduction was created and put in place by the Democratic presidential administration to help with the recession.
The world is a wacky place, and it is time people begin re-examining what they believe about the various political parties in American politics because the assumptions and stereo-types being tossed around by the extremists are simply not true. An educated, rational electorate is the only chance we have to improve the economy. So get out there, look into the candidates, and vote (primaries begin in less than a month).
