Parting

"My life closed twice before its close;
        It yet remains to see
     If Immortality unveil
        A third event to me,
So huge, so hopeless to conceive
     As these that twice befell.
Parting is all we know of heaven,
           And all we need of hell."
                      - Emily Dickinson (1830-1886)
[I've been an avid reader for as long as I can remember, but it wasn't until an amazing series of literature classes in college that I really began to appreciate poetry. There is an intricate beauty and complexity to a carefully crafted poem. They are capable of expressing emotions much more precisely than prose with far fewer words. The masters of the art make it appear effortless, but poetry is a skill few truly possess and should, therefore, be that much greater appreciated when enjoyed.]
